Day 116 – A classic nut

31 Jan

Swiss brand Van Houten has been producing chocolates since 1828 and is actually well known for it’s chocolate drinks. Interestingly, founder Coenraad Johannes van Houten used his experience as a chemist and a chocolate maker to treat cocoa mass with alkaline salts, removing the bitter taste and making it more water soluble, which is known as “Dutch process” chocolate!

These semi-sweet almond chocolates were enjoyable. The creamy chocolate was sweet enough and the coating generously covered the full almond nut. Always a popular option for nutty chocolates, this almond chocolate was a pretty good contestant.
