Today’s chocolate is presented to you by Lindt, the fine Swiss chocolatier that has been producing chocolate since 1845. With such experience they can proudly boast a number of premium products and someone thought quality should be made accessible to the masses, as they can be found in your local convenience store.
This little beauty was not found locally, and given my usual preference for their 70% I thought I’d give this one a whirl – Lindt Excellence Chilli (Dark). Ironically, it only states a minimum of 49% cocoa solids, which doesn’t sound very dark to me, hmm…
As with all their 80g bars, the chocolate comes in a fine slab in convenient 1.5″ squared pieces. This one is surprisingly sweet (or not so surprising given the low cocoa mass!) and the chilli slowly ebbs through the flavour, allowing you to finish off with a nicely warmed and spiced palate.
This was a little too sweet for my liking, but I did enjoy the little kick the chilli adds to it, balancing it out. Guess that was the plan.
