Day 157 – Bar of plenty

What a great name for a chocolate bar! Of course it’s from NZ with a clever play on a beautiful area called Bay of Plenty… well it’s made by Cadbury’s down south, and this one happened to be bought in Auckland.

That’s right, it’s Cadbury’s Berry Fruit and Vanilla Shortcake and it was delicious! Sweet, tart and buttery flavours melded with the chocolate and it was difficult not to finish the whole bar. It was probably a saving grace that there were plenty of people around to share the guilty pleasure this chocolate presented. It’s just sad that I won’t know when I’ll have the chance to enjoy one again. Sigh.

Day 142 – Farewell cookie

The last night hanging out in the hood with my bus buddy was bitter sweet. It was made sweeter by his homemade baked goods… is it gluten free? I asked. Erm half…? he replied. Not sure what he meant by that I decided to be polite, yet remaining cautious just broke off half a cookie.

There’s a special ingredient, he adds as I savour the first bite. It’s chocolate of course, but a special kind. Can you guess? Hmm… noting a nuttiness, I guessed snickers? Nope. Walnuts. Nope, I’d be surprised if you guessed it. It does have nuts. And chocolate. Taking another few bites… ahhh Ferrero Rocher! Yes:)

Ferrero Rocher cookies – they weren’t bad at all especially for a second time baker as he was. They had less sugar, flour and butter than the original recipe called for, but they were still tasty and had firm cake like texture. Perfect for an afternoon tea I reckon. I did have the second half, but sadly I didn’t take any pictures so you’ll have to imagine it or make them yourself. Note, a few Ferrero Rocher’s won’t hurt anyone.

Day 126 – Four thirty six

Ok I realise writing numbers won’t mean anything to anyone, but it doesn’t really matter. What does matter are these:

Well it should be singular, as there was only one left at the time of taking this pic. I had decidedly consumed the rest with a little help over the past few days. Good old Pam’s. Wheat-free, gluten-free and dairy-free dark chocolate chocolate chunk cookies! You know they mean busy when ‘chocolate’ is used twice in the name. Yep.

They’re quite a treat really, especially when you’re on such a specific diet and they actually taste pretty good! Again, as with most chocolate chip cookies, have them a little warmed with a glass of milk – mmm perfecto (try almond or coconut if you can’t do the cow milk version).
