Started watching the Australian junior master chef and it’s the most amazing thing ever! The kids range from 9-12 years old and come up with creative and delicious looking dishes, and they’re so sweet and encouraging to one another. Quite the change from watching Gordon Ramsey’s masterchefs!
This episode had them making Donna Hay’s four-tiered chocolate cake –
It looks scrumptious! The junior masterchefs came up with their own versions of this, cooking and decorating it with cream cheese icing, chocolate covered strawberries, cream filled berries… and the judges had to try each one of them. If only I was one of them!! mmmm wish list.
Class day. That meant snacks and ones that would keep me entertained and awake throughout the 3 hours that followed.
As I rounded the aisle with some other edible purchases, this caught my eye – Notably, the coffee + chocolate combination in Meiji’s Coffee Beat tube:
Suddenly struck by a nostagia for my espresso pillows (I actually had been thinking about them earlier that day!), I picked them up and headed to the check out counter.
After a mere 10 minutes into class, I was getting into the packaging (quietly) and proceeded to open the cardboard tube – I had a little giggle as there are the cutest little characters on the inside when you take the lid off (now you just have to go buy some to find out what they look like ha). Popping a handful of them I was actually blanked a bit from what the tutor was saying and stared intently at the tube, whilst turning it over in my hand. A-MAZING!! Seriously, it’s been a while since I’ve come across any chocolate that I really really like, and this one just caught me off guard. With a crunchy sugar shell, the chocolate inside is coffee flavoured, and it’s surprisingly strong. Imagine, coffee flavoured M&Ms hmmm… apparently M&Ms do have a mocha flavour, but I haven’t come across them yet. Wishlist.
Anyway, back to this amazing discovery – I continued to munch down most of the tube, while falling behind the rest of the class, and having ask someone what we were doing. Distracted by chocolate. Good excuse.
If you’re heading to Taiwan, perhaps you should make some time in your trip to visit the Chocolate Fantasy World!
With lots of chocolate exhibitors, craftsmen and booths to educate and tantilise your tastebuds, the show runs from June 4 to Sept 12. Go get your tickets!!
I’ve heard of soy ink, but now there’s chocolate printers and they’re making personalised chocolates… hmmm read more!
Preparing for a colleague’s birthday we decided to get something different than the usual faux creamed cake for something we knew she’d rather enjoy from Sift…
With several towers topped with a candle, she squealed in delight as she came into the conference room as we sung her a birthday song. There were plenty enough to go around, though for some they were eying up a few. Immediately going for the chocolate one, I was down to my last bite when another colleague who was a little too slow, had missed on having a chocolate one and so kindly shared my last piece. Next up was the passion – which was half green and half orange, the passion fruit filling was fresh and sweet! hmmm.. luckily for us, some found them too sweet and quickly dispersed, leaving a few vultures to finish off the rest. I quickly grabbed the caramel and departed to my seat to enjoy in silence. Though the chocolate one is still my favourite. I’ve already put in a request for my birthday to have an all chocolate macaroon tower! Hopefully someone remembers ha.
